City Seeking Input from UGA Expansion Area residents

The City of Snohomish is studying the feasibility of adding approximately 265 acres of land north of US2 to the City’s Urban Growth Area (UGA). Only the Snohomish County Council has the authority to change UGA boundaries, but the City believes the opinions of property owners and residents in the study area deserve first and foremost consideration.

As part of a public outreach process that has been in the planning stages for some time, the City is mailing a public opinion survey directly to all property owners and residents within 300 feet of the proposed UGA expansion area. The survey will be mailed the week of February 25th, and will include a post-paid return envelope. Community meetings are also being scheduled to facilitate direct communication between the City of Snohomish and affected property owners and residents. The first meeting is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on April 2, 2008. Results of the public opinion survey will be announced at that time. The meeting will be held in the Harvey Auditorium, Fire District 4, 1525 Avenue D in Snohomish. We hope to have both the City Council and the City Planning Commission in attendance. Additional details will be announced soon.
