Applicants Sought for Economic Development Committee Opening

Applicants are being sought to fill a vacancy on the City of Snohomish Economic Development Committee. The applications are due to be received on March 12, 2008 by 4:00 p.m. at City Hall, 116 Union Avenue in Snohomish, ATTN: City Clerk.

The Economic Development Committee opening was created by the resignation of Garnet Hizzey who has served on the Committee for more than six years.

The Economic Development Committee is established for the following purposes:

• To clarify and interpret the elements of the Economic Development Strategy;
• To provide a forum for the coordination of information among entities identified as having economic development roles;
• To recommend priorities and establish a means to monitor progress on goals;
• To provide such other advice and guidance as is consistent with furthering the “Economic Development Strategy”.

Economic Development Committee members serve two-year terms. The period of the term will be from April 1, 2008 – March 31, 2010.

Snohomish Easter Parade

The 28^th Annual Easter Parade will be held in downtown Snohomish on March 22, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. The Snohomish Chamber of Commerce and Bickford Ford – Mercury, Sunrise Senior Living, Snohomish Kiwanis, Gilpin Realty and Designer's Warehouse Furniture invite you to the oldest continuously running Easter Parade in Washington State. Snohomish Slew, of GroundFrog Day fame, predicts sunny weather and a Frog-Frolicking fun time for participants and spectators. J.D. Fields of Catch the Beat is our Parade Master of Ceremonies. It's going to be an Easter Frog-Frolicking fun time!

Enter the Easter Bonnet Contest, (no age limit and pets are welcome). Sign Up, located at First Street and Avenue A, begins at 9:30 a.m. and judging will begin immediately following the parade at that location. There is limited space on the Chamber Float for contestants to ride in the parade.

30,000 eggs await children 12 and younger. The Snohomish Ministry Network is sponsoring an Easter Egg Hunt at Harvey Field, east of Highway 9 and west of the airfield runway starting promptly at 9:00 a.m. Children will be divided into age groups.

The Easter Parade begins at 10:30 a.m. on First Street between Union Avenue and Avenue D. Our Parade Host is the Snohomish County Tribune's "Easter Bunny".
